How Aquis Works

It's a fact.

How you dry your hair is the key to strong and healthy hair.

It is also the single most overlooked step in hair care.

Keratin is a protein that gives hair its strength and integrity. When hair is wet, the keratin in the endocuticle layer absorbs water and swells rapidly; hair cuticles are pushed open, they rub and tangle, leading to cuticle damage. Simultaneously, the keratin bonds along the length of the hair weaken and stretch to the point of breakage. This is why hair needs to be dried quickly and evenly to a damp stage - without heat.

AQUIS Hair Towels and Turbans are the solution.

ALL THE FACTS, NONE OF THE FRICTION.

ALL THE FACTS,
NONE OF THE FRICTION.

FACT: THE SPEED AT WHICH YOU DRY YOUR HAIR MATTERS

Keratin is distributed within the hair. When hair is wet, Keratin absorbs water rapidly causing the hair to swell and stretch, weakening it up to 57%. This is when hair is most vulnerable and prone to damage. To protect hair’s strength, water needs to be removed within the first few minutes you walk out of the shower.

FACT: APPLYING HEAT TO WET HAIR COMPOUNDS DAMAGE

Exposure to heat breaks open cuticles, creates fissures in the hair strand, and extracts the natural moisture contained within hair. This is why blow dryers were designed to style hair, not dry hair. They also dry hair unevenly, leaving wet hair patches that continue to weaken and experience damage while wet.

FACT: FRICTION WEAKENS HAIR'S PROTECTIVE LAYER

Raised hair cuticles snag on loops in terry towels, whether they’re made out of cotton or microfiber. Applying friction on raised cuticles further damages hair by significantly increasing the number of cuticles snagging and breaking off, which weakens the protective layer of hair. The conclusion, bath towels were nenever intended to dry wet hair.

FACT: USING A HEAVY TOWEL MEANS MORE BREAKAGE

Wet, swollen hair is prone to stretching. Heavy, bulky towels worsen the stretching and force hair to reach a point of breakage faster.

FACT: UNEVEN HAIR DRYING CAN CAUSE HAIR TO BE BRITTLE

When hair dries unevenly, wet patches are left behind, remaining vulnerable and experiencing damage during styling. Wet hair patches put your strands at risk of “bubble damage” when they come in contact with heat styling tools. Bubble damage happens when moisture within the cortex is overheated, turning the liquid into steam. As the steam expands, it creates microscopic bubbles in the cortex. The end result: brittle, dry strands, and eventually hair loss.

AQUITEX

Aquitex is the secret to how AQUIS Hair Towels and Turbans work. It’s an innovative, lightweight drying system made from ultra-fine fibers that are split into strands thinner than silk. They are unique woven to create channels that quickly wick water away from hair without snagging cuticles or causing friction. The absorbed water is efficiently distributed across the fabric, while continuing to dry hair at the point of contact. This helps minimize the swelling and stretching of hair, protecting its integrity. The result is stronger, healthier, more manageable hair.
