We're starting a new series on the blog called "Smoothie Sundays", and we are excited to say the least! If you are as hair obsessed as we are, we know you're doing everything you can to get your hair to that covetingly gorgeous state of silk and shine. And, as much as we know about science, and the truths about water, heat, and how we dry our hair, what we put into our bodies as fuel also has a huge effect on our locks. From growth rate, to color and shine, food has the power to give your locks that extra boost you may be looking for.
For starters, let's chat about a few foods that give our hair natural shine and strength:
Walnuts: Fats and vitamins like vitamin B7, or biotin, are found in walnuts and help to strengthen hair, reduce hair fall out and improve growth.
Avocados: Avocados are full of B vitamins and omega 3's. Good fats are always a good idea. Also, we've heard of people making avocado hair masks (and hair smoothies!) to deep condition the hair.
Almond Butter:  Hair loss can be linked to a deficiency in magnesium, which almonds have in abundance. Also, adding almonds or almond butter to smoothies thicken and sweeten naturally.
A great thing to keep in mind when cooking for your skin and hair, is that fats are your friend. Using them in moderation, we can give our hair what it's craving, ultimately leading to less product usage, and shorter styling time. Try out this Healthy Hair Smoothie for the long weekend, and see your hair reap the benefits!
